Rosebud Part 3

On Friday last week I took another drive east out to Rosebud to add some more merchandise to my little corner in the mercantile.

I know that I say it every time I drive that way, but as the seasons change, the views change and remain spectacular. Going west is so beautiful with the Rockies in view, but there is something about the prairies on the way to the Badlands. I really love the vistas with the canola blooming right now.

I may have overdone it with the photos.... :)

The road into Rosebud:

Here is my "Summer Collection" on display:

If you follow me on Facebook, I do have a few more individual pictures of the items I added this last trip. If you have any questions, please contact me and I can do my best to get you the information on what you are interested in.

Enjoy your day!

All Dressed Up

4 Piece Bedroom Set
{$380}

This is a 4 piece set (I've included the mirror, bench, vanity desk and dresser) which I have had waiting for a makeover for a while now. It was so pretty, and I wanted to do something special with it. I had to post this picture because you can see Lucy perfectly in the mirror, sitting on top of the couch doing neighbourhood watch.....

One of my most "pinned" on Pinterest items is a dresser I did last year in a coral colour. As coral is super on-trend this year, I thought I would give this pretty set a trendy makeover with coral, navy and bronze.

The vanity desk is really adorable and has such nice deco lines. There is a ton of storage with 4 deep drawers plus the desk top area. The matching bench is the icing on the cake.

The dresser is a great size ~ especially if you want to use this in a young girl's room. It is not too tall, but with 4 drawers, it provides a good amount of storage with easy access.

The wooden knobs have been sprayed using a Benjamin Moore spray bomb in Deep Secret (CSP-625) and the original detail with the bronze lines has been duplicated.

I used a pretty fabric with coral, pinks, yellow and turquoise so it would work well with other colours in your decor.

The coral I used is Benjamin Moore's Coral Spice ~ a slightly more sophisticated coral tone ~ a bit less saturated than some.

This is a very sweet set and priced to go fast. I have it displayed at Airdrie Paint and Decor and it can be viewed or purchased from the friendly staff there.

The sizes are as follows:

DRESSER
26 inches wide
16 inches deep
43 inches high

VANITY
36 inches wide
16 inches deep
30.5 inches high (not including mirror)

{Rosebud Mercantile Part 2}

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know that this past December I had the privilege of putting a selection of my pieces in the Mercantile at the theatre in Rosebud, Alberta. That was Part 1... and makes today Part 2. The Spring Show starts this weekend and I made the absolutely beautiful drive out east with my husband Tim. He is off work this week and decided to come with me and also loaded my vehicle for me this morning (that's love baby). Getting all of this stuff into my SUV is no easy task but he managed to magically make it all fit. I was also able to work on my knitting homework without getting (very) carsick ~ it is a straight road, thank goodness. The knitting is probably worth a separate post ~ let's just say that I am not skilled at the needle arts and this project I am working on will take me FOREVER to complete. I might get kicked out of knitting school.

So, back to Rosebud...

I just wanted to share a few of the pieces that I brought out there today.

Chevron Striped Nightstand with Flower Glass Knob.
Pale Avocado and Florida Keys Blue.

Black Shabby Ladder. Love this for displaying funky stuff.

Trying out a bit of a different technique for a BookPage Wreath. I tea-stained a paperback first. A bit of a shabby feel.

Oval BookPage Wreath with Berries and Green.

Square Music Sheet Wreath with Willow and Green.

Large Illustrated BookPage Wreath. I made this from discarded children's books. LOVE the way it turned out!

Small Shabby Leaner Ladder.

Lovely pair of side tables with drawer in Florida Keys Blue.

Super Shabby White Pressback Chair. I love these old chairs as a side table... so much character!

I also included a few wired frames and dry erase frames as well as some other tables and a bookcase and other little charmers that are looking for a new home.

Val and I worked together to get it all set up in the newly renovated space. I am so pleased how it all came together.

I am so pleased with my lovely corner of the Mercantile. There is a sweet gift shop around the corner as well with some very charming looking items. Cindy was unpacking a lot of goodies this morning...

Val is also installing a few large art pieces from local artists in the Mercantile as well as in the Gallery just down the road. It is worth the stop in to check it all out!

{Vanity Project}

This little vanity desk has been sitting in my work space for a while. As I have mentioned before, my friend Alicia is a Kijiji genius and she scored this sweet piece for a song a few months ago.

This is a life-sized jewelry box! Every drawer is velvet lined and purposed for storing every type of jewelry. Alicia took her time deciding what she would like to do with it. She was inspired by some fabric and decided to go bold!

This result is soooooo pretty! I love the red with the bright turquoise and pink in the bench. I removed all of the brass hardware and sprayed it all a pale pink before lightly distressing it.

I used some of the the extra fabric to line the interior storage  areas as well.

The print has a nostalgic feel to it, but feels so fresh with the red and pink. This was so fun to work on and the result was really special.

Alicia sent me a picture of the vanity after she put a few of her treasures inside...

I feel so fortunate that she trusted me to put this together for her... She gave me some creative freedom ~ this was a bit of a risk for me to take, but sometimes taking those little risks pay off.

{Bits and Pieces}

I just took another beautiful drive out to Rosebud, Alberta this morning. I always love driving east ~ the sky is SO big. Coming back home is also a treat as the view of the prairie is so amazing and then just as you get accustomed to the miles of fields, you get smacked in the face with the magnificent Rockies just as you arrive at the overpass to the QE2. The other thing I love about going to Rosebud is getting the opportunity to see my friend Valerie. She is the wonderful person who invited me to put some of my things in the Mercantile. It went so well over Christmas ~ I couldn't be more pleased! I think it was a great fit.... There were a few pieces that were still left and since the season is over until spring and there is a massive reno going on, I went and picked them up. I am posting them here for a day or two before I post them on Kijiji, just to give any readers interested a chance to speak first.

Secretary Desk

[$100]

This is such a pretty desk with the benefit of extra storage as well. It is painted a very pale pink with the hardware a rubbed silver and lined with silver and grey wallpaper. It is very feminine and solidly built.

Super Shabby White Table w/Drawer

[SOLD]

This heavily distressed table is a perfect touch next to a sweet chair or in your guest bedroom. Finished in a creamy white and hand rubbed to a smooth wax finish, it adds storage with a little drawer and a lower shelf. Vintage hardware and wallpaper lining add a pretty touch.

27.5" L
17.5" W
22.5" H

Super Shabby White Leaner Mirror

[$50]

This is a mirror salvaged from an old dresser. It is a creamy white and heavily distressed and very heavy! Perfect for leaning on a mantle or table. The simple lines and small decorative feature at the top are appealing.

30" W
26" H

Darkly Distressed Square Mirror

[$30]

A good strong and square mirror painted a dark grey and lightly distressed. Great for leaning or hanging.

23.75" each side

Architectural Interest

[$30]

This one takes a little imagination, but I have seen similar ideas in magazines and on other blogs. It is a support piece for the mirror of an old dresser. It has pretty lines and interesting features. I included the brass screws and decorative bolts that held the mirror. This is great for building a mantle or shelf display. It adds height and interest with a shabby unusual touch. I really love the spindles!

Assorted Framed Fabric

[$15/ea]

I have a bit of a soft spot for fabric and so I can't really get rid of any bits left over from other projects. I love using old painted frames to show them off. I use one with a dry-erase pen in my kitchen for my weekly supper menu. They look SO much better than a white board!
