Fresh Start
{SOLD}
I have taken a ridiculous amount of time off from attending to this blog! I have still been working and selling, but just quiet here on-line, although I usually post a few things that I have in the works on my facebook page for hour25.
To kick things off for spring, I am excited to try something new for me. As many of you know, I also work part time at Airdrie Paint and Decor, the local Benjamin Moore store. It recently changed ownership and the new owners have decided to start to offer more products for the furniture makeover types like me! I have been trying some of them out and as I do, some of the smaller pieces will be available for sale at the store.
My very first piece is a sweet little side table that I made over using a new line of Alberta made chalk paint. The best part of this paint is that it can be tinted to ANY colour. I was anxious to try it out!
It has been painted a dark grey and distressed and then buffed with a new wax I am trying. I love the extra storage on the lower level and a bonus drawer too!
As always, I have a weak spot for making the inside pretty too!
There are some lovely details on this piece that the light distressing really highlights. It also has a glass piece which inserts over the caning on the top of the table.
It is very unique and yet has a sophisticated feel to it, due to the dark colour I think.
If you would like to take a look, please head down to the store at 102 - 191 Edwards Way SW in Airdrie.
It offered at $80 and measures
21.75 inches high
21 inches wide
26 inches deep
As always, I love feedback! Let me know if you have any comments or questions....
Last week I made a trip back out to the Rosebud Mercantile. I had heard that things were looking a bit bare, so it was time to restock before the last few shows of the summer. I thought I would share a few of the items that I took with me.
I decided to take a bit of a risk with this cabinet. This turquoise is my salute to the last few weeks of summer. It feels so beachy and sunny. As everyone who reads this blog know, I am hooked on the trendy chevron stripe right now. I thought that those sliding doors needed a little extra punch and I am very happy with the result. I really distressed this piece so it feels weathered and has more character. It has tons of storage too! So great for extra dishes, games or even as a little bar....

I have been working on doing some fun things with these old window frames with the glass in good condition. I tried applying a chalkboard surface to them, leaving a little 'frame' of sorts around it so when hung on the wall, a little bit of the wall colour will show through. I really like them and think they are pretty unique although I am sure I am not the first person to do this! I tried it on the square vintage red frame in the 2nd and 3rd pictures as well. What do you think? A bit of a statement maybe....?
In the 3rd picture you can see the cute little twin headboard which would work well on bed (obviously), but also as a way to layer some interesting decor items on a large mantle, in a garden or on a large display area that some houses have in the entry ways.
The headboard is sitting on a funky grey bench which sort of blends in to the background, but it was a great find! I love the legs and the length is perfect for an entryway or even at a standard table.
This is just a great little nightstand. It is pretty and sweet. I thought I would transition to some more earthy colours as we move into fall. This is a lovely plum with black and white wallpaper on the back and lining the drawer.
I am not done with coral yet! This is a two tiered telephone type table that is just cool. I love it with the blue for a very fresh feeling.
I tried adding a little interest to the top BookPage Wreath and ended up with an ombre effect. It is subtle, but makes it interesting.
The second wreath is made of an old atlas book ~ lots of maps and charts. Good for the person who likes to travel (or hopes to!).
The third is more of the standard wreath. I still love the way this looks on a wall. Unusual and very interesting!
I feel so fortunate to be able to have my things here in such a lovely place. The shows are great and the food is good. If you are looking for a place to spend a weekend afternoon, check out the fall schedule and take the drive!
I am working on the finishing touches for my 9 year old daughter's room and I hope to share it soon!
Farm Fresh Retro Hutch
{sold}
I apologize to those looking for something neutral today. I just couldn't do it with either of these pieces. I thought about it, but everyone seems to love turquoise as much as I do! This first piece is so cute and retro that it really needed something fun to revive it back to life.
This is just a solid piece literally straight off the farm. It was initially owned by the farmer and his wife and left there in the house with the original family. I wanted it to have another life as something fun and fresh, but still functional.
There is a ton of storage here inside the glass doors. The interior is Wedding White and the exterior is Vista Marine, both from CIL. If you open the drawers, there is a little surprise in there too!
I updated some mismatched pulls for the drawers and doors to give it a whimsical flare.
I am just so pleased with how this turned out! Don't you think that it would work great as a little bar station with a collection of wine or liquor bottles on the shelves along with wine glasses? The drawers are great for corkscrews and napkins and other fun things.
I could also see it as a pretty way to store sewing or craft supplies or even kids games and toys. If you are lucky enough to have a large bathroom, this would be great filled with towels and toiletries too.... So many ideas!

Racy Red Side Table
{sold}
This is just a great little table. I LOVE the dowels used on the lower shelf. It somehow gives it a little more of an airy feel.
This would work so well as a little coffee table in a small space or a side table or night stand too. If you have a little corner by your bathtub, it would look pretty with towels folded on the lower shelf with a tray holding all your bath goodies.
This is just a great way to add a little punch of colour in any room in your house. Very solid piece!

Bold Dresser
{*sold*}
I have been wanting to do a dresser in this colour for a long time! When I scored this one a few weeks ago, I knew I had found my candidate.
It is so solid and a perfect size. It has a few nice little details too...
The legs are very sweet and I really like the inset lower drawers. It is a subtle thing, but adds a special something. The hardware was perfect ~ I just updated it a little bit. The dresser painted up so beautifully, I only distressed the edges very lightly.
I did add some of my favourite glam-y wallpaper to line each drawer. It is available at Lowe's. It is not on their website, but it comes in a tube and it is in-stock in the wallpaper aisle.
It is a very pretty feather motif.

Super Shabby Oval Coffee Table
{*sold*}
I know that the super shabby look is not for everyone, but I love this look with white. The pretty carving shows through and the legs still look a bit glamorous. The top is a lovely shape and could be the perfect touch in the right space.
It is very sturdy and will be the bit of character you are looking for!

Thanks for all the feedback ~ I love hearing from you all!
If you follow me on Facebook, you will know that I made a little trip out to the Rosebud Mercantile this week to add a few pieces to the dwindling inventory I have there. I just thought I would share a few photos of what I left behind....
I didn't realize that the light was so bad until I downloaded the pictures when I got home. Naturally, I was in a hurry and attention to detail sort of slips away. I'm sure that this does not happen to anyone else!
This is a fabulous chippy little desk ~ it looks rough, but it is cleaned up and smooth and funky. I love the way the layers of paint show through. This look is not for everyone, but it can look great if you have that hipster/boho look going on. I added some pretty vintage hardware and some wallpaper to the drawers for some glam detail.
I also did up a few small wooden bowls that had lived a hard life previously.
These are a fun little pop of seasonal colour and I love doing them!
I can't believe I didn't take a better picture of this coat rack, because I think it was my favourite thing! You can see glimpses of it in the other pictures, but seriously! I love this so much!
This is a sweet little shabby shelf painted a ballet pink with vintage hardware for hanging jewelry or other pretty things.
There are a few other little tables and wreaths too.
This place is such a treasure. I encourage Albertans to check it out! This summer Anne of Green Gables is playing and will be worth the trip. The Mercantile and other little galleries are open from Wednesday - Thursday 12-8 during the summer. It is a small (teeny, tiny) little town, but the artists installed in the galleries are amazing. Even if you are traveling to Drumheller to see the Royal Tyrrell Museum, this is on your way. We are so fortunate to have this great arts community in a beautiful spot!
Coming up on Monday I will have a couple of fun things for sale. If you love that turquoise-y blue and need a dresser, you might want to check back!
Sweet Tea Cart
{*sold*}
This little sweetheart could be just the little pop of colour a corner of your home is looking for. It has been sprayed a cheery red and the glass is in great condition. It could be used as a little bar to mix up super summer cocktails or as an unexpected end table or nightstand.
I think it would also look great on a deck hosting some summer pots of flowers. It is quite sturdy and even rolls!
So pretty!

Shabby White Sofa Table
{*sold*}
This is not a super flashy table, but it is very sturdy and has lovely simple lines which would fit nicely with any decor. It has been painted Cloud White and distressed to show of some of the little details in its construction.
I have a huge soft spot for a sofa table ~ it is such a versatile piece of furniture and can be used in so many different ways ~ either behind a sofa, at an entry, beside seating, or against a way to display pictures and collections.

Birdie Coffee Table
{*sold*}
Since my purchase of a new cowhide for my living room, I needed to replace my coffee table. It was just not working with the new carpet and ended up looking a little small. I am offering it for sale as well today. I have found a replacement for now that is making me happier!
It is a pretty oval table with sweet legs and a lower shelf with caning. It is painted a very pale creamy grey and the glass insert has been sprayed (underneath) with a bird and branch design. Anyone who has been to my house will recognize my love of decorating with birds and trees.... It has only been in my house for a few months and has seen very little wear, but I would love to see it go to a new home!
If there is anything here that speaks to you, give me a call or text me at 403.700.0877 or email lisabaron70@gmail.com and we can work out a time for you to take a look!
