Mirrored China Cabinet Beauty

{*SOLD*}

This cabinet was a sad 80's leftover. It had some cool features and I loved the style, but the honey oak was so dated and overshadowed all the good stuff happening.

Part of what makes this cabinet so great is that mirror (I love a reflective surface...) but it also makes it tricky to photograph. I tried with the garage door open, and closed:

I painted it Kendall Charcoal which is one of my very favourite grays. It goes with almost everything and looks like a million bucks too. I finished it with a nice hand wax to smooth it out and add protection.

Some distressing highlights these awesome details in the woodwork.

The shelves are glass and do a nice job of floating in the cabinet ~ great for displaying a collection or your good china. There is a handy plate groove along the back of each shelf too and it comes with a sweet little pot light on the top of the cabinet which shines down through the glass. Very pretty!

Check out all the closed storage too!

This is piece is solid oak and is very well made (and heavy!).

It measures:
75 inches tall
44 inches wide
15.25" deep

Sweet Character Cabinet

{SOLD}

I am in LOVE with this cabinet and the way it turned out!

I found this vintage china cabinet from a local buy and sell site. The seller had bought it from someone else who had started to do a chalk paint makeover and abandoned it part way through. I loved the lines and thought it had potential in a fresh and pretty sea-inspired blue, but liked the idea of the first colour peeking through a little bit.

The glass had been removed so I replaced it with chicken wire and painted the interior of the cabinet a bright, creamy white.

Of course I had to add my decorating antler. Everything looks better with an antler in it. Or a bird.

My lovely friend had recently finished a small wallpapering project at her house and offered her leftovers to me. Isn't this fun in the drawer?

Oversized letters in greys, taupes and black on a creamy background! So gorgeous!

This piece is approximately
70 inches high
32 inches wide
16 inches deep

I painted it in Benjamin Moore AZORES (AF-495) and it is less blue than it shows in the pictures.

Send me an email at lisabaron70@gmail.com or text me at 403 700 0877 if you would like more information or would like to purchase this pretty little guy.

Rosebud Part 3

On Friday last week I took another drive east out to Rosebud to add some more merchandise to my little corner in the mercantile.

I know that I say it every time I drive that way, but as the seasons change, the views change and remain spectacular. Going west is so beautiful with the Rockies in view, but there is something about the prairies on the way to the Badlands. I really love the vistas with the canola blooming right now.

I may have overdone it with the photos.... :)

The road into Rosebud:

Here is my "Summer Collection" on display:

If you follow me on Facebook, I do have a few more individual pictures of the items I added this last trip. If you have any questions, please contact me and I can do my best to get you the information on what you are interested in.

Enjoy your day!

Super Wardrobe!

Beyond Storage
{SOLD}

This super piece needed a little extra loving when it came into my possession which is probably why it has taken me so long to get to it. I am so glad that I took the time to bring this one back to life because I think it looks so adorable now...

Look at all that storage! A total of 5 small drawers and 2 large drawers not to mention the big cabinet area.

The interior shelves are adjustable and can be removed if you would rather throw a rod in there for hanging clothes. There is a spot to insert a 1 inch dowel if you prefer. I love this wall paper and I think it adds a beautiful touch to the back of the cabinet. I also used it to line each drawer.

I used the new Benjamin Moore tintable chalkboard paint in Kendall Charcoal to paint the door to add some fun and extra utility. It works really well and is not as harsh as black would be.

It is lightly distressed with a hand rubbed wax finish. I found 10 matching vintage drawer pulls in white and gold to finish it off.

I can see this in a play room to store dress up clothes and games and art supplies, but I can also imagine it in a girls room to give lots of needed storage. Whatever you do with this Super Wardrobe, it will be a timeless, one of a kind piece.

It measures
61 inches high
17.5 inches deep
36.75 inches wide

If you would like to make this piece part of your home, email me at lisabaron70@gmail.com or text me at 403 700 0877 and we can arrange a time to take a look.

All Dressed Up

4 Piece Bedroom Set
{$380}

This is a 4 piece set (I've included the mirror, bench, vanity desk and dresser) which I have had waiting for a makeover for a while now. It was so pretty, and I wanted to do something special with it. I had to post this picture because you can see Lucy perfectly in the mirror, sitting on top of the couch doing neighbourhood watch.....

One of my most "pinned" on Pinterest items is a dresser I did last year in a coral colour. As coral is super on-trend this year, I thought I would give this pretty set a trendy makeover with coral, navy and bronze.

The vanity desk is really adorable and has such nice deco lines. There is a ton of storage with 4 deep drawers plus the desk top area. The matching bench is the icing on the cake.

The dresser is a great size ~ especially if you want to use this in a young girl's room. It is not too tall, but with 4 drawers, it provides a good amount of storage with easy access.

The wooden knobs have been sprayed using a Benjamin Moore spray bomb in Deep Secret (CSP-625) and the original detail with the bronze lines has been duplicated.

I used a pretty fabric with coral, pinks, yellow and turquoise so it would work well with other colours in your decor.

The coral I used is Benjamin Moore's Coral Spice ~ a slightly more sophisticated coral tone ~ a bit less saturated than some.

This is a very sweet set and priced to go fast. I have it displayed at Airdrie Paint and Decor and it can be viewed or purchased from the friendly staff there.

The sizes are as follows:

DRESSER
26 inches wide
16 inches deep
43 inches high

VANITY
36 inches wide
16 inches deep
30.5 inches high (not including mirror)

Little Vanity Project

This was a little project that I did for a friend a few months ago. I haven't been doing a lot of custom work as I find that I just don't have much time for it, but I was excited to do this for my sweet friend Jamie...

Jamie and her husband had embarked on a HUGE reno project in their house. Basically they transformed their 90's, slightly dated house into a beautiful modern home that really reflects their personalities. As you go through it, there are so many thoughtful touches which make it unique. They could charge admission to see the amazing water feature in one of the kids' rooms just for her pet turtle alone.

Part of the renovation was creating a room just for Jamie. She was using it as her office, dressing room and quiet space. We found this little vanity on kijiji. It had been painted previously, but I decided to jazz it up a little more. Jamie already had a desk in her room that I had painted for her earlier and she really wanted them to feel like they went together. She had also found some really fun fabric to incorporate so I used those as my cues and went from there.

It is so cute and really adds a little extra character to an already very personalized space.

It adds a little extra storage for her jewels and makeup.

This fabric is so pretty! Modern but still whimsical. It also gave me an opportunity to pull out my favourite turquoise for the bench too.

Feminine detailing and curvy legs make it all her own.

 These vanity sets can be a little hard to find second hand, but they are totally worth the effort to transform them into something extra special.

Something Unique....

Super Shabby Message Table
{SOLD}

So the previous table did not last a day at the store, so I thought I would put another one in there to demonstrate some different paint and some distressing. I wanted to try something a little bit fun with this guy.

I am currently working on a sweet little bedroom set in coral ~ one of my favourite colours for spring! I put a layer of that on after my primer and followed it up with that new Vintage Revivals Chalk Paint that I have recently started to use. I really like the way it just peeks through the dark and serious grey... sort of like the spring we have been having in Alberta.

Since Benjamin Moore now has a tintable chalkboard paint, I mixed some of that up for the top.

I love this chalkboard paint too! It is so nice to use and offers a unique way to leave love messages to your family or friends.

A wee little drawer for storage and a little extra pretty.

The coral is very subtle, and I love the way the details are highlighted. These little tables can bring a little whimsy to a neglected corner. I finished it off with a coat of wax for extra protection and a smooth touch (not the chalkboard top).

This table is available for purchase at Airdrie Paint and Decor located at 102 - 191 Edwards Way SW.

Feel free to go in and take a look!

This table measures
23.5 inches high
24 inches in diameter
