A Little Break

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who comes here and appreciates what I am trying to do. It has been so encouraging!

The past few weeks I have been doing a regular post on Mondays with items for sale and it has been a real success! I love taking a few risks and seeing people respond to colour and a little whimsy too. It is fun to add character to our spaces with pieces that have been neglected or deemed too ugly to be of any value.

I have been taking furniture that people have in garages or basements or have inherited from relatives and just can't bear to give away and doing a little custom makeover work. I am going to change my approach to this, at least for the summer and will no longer accept custom work for the time being. There are a few reasons for this:

1. I have very limited work/storage space as I do these projects in my basement studio.

2. I have several personal projects that I have waiting to be finished that I want to get done this summer!

3. My husband has accepted a new position that will take a lot more of his time. I need to be able to focus on my family when he is not here. These kiddos like me to pay attention to them for some reason.

4. I want to be able to offer more pieces on my blog. Things have been selling very quickly and I know people get frustrated. I would like to be able to offer things several times per week.

In light of this soul searching, I am going to give myself a couple of weeks off from listing items to finish the commissioned work that I have committed to. After that, I hope to be back with a BANG. I know that most people who come here understand busy-ness and the necessity of prioritizing time. I appreciate the support and would love it if you would still stick around...

Thanks to all!

*Monday Listing*

Farm Fresh Retro Hutch
{sold}

I apologize to those looking for something neutral today. I just couldn't do it with either of these pieces. I thought about it, but everyone seems to love turquoise as much as I do! This first piece is so cute and retro that it really needed something fun to revive it back to life.

This is just a solid piece literally straight off the farm. It was initially owned by the farmer and his wife and left there in the house with the original family. I wanted it to have another life as something fun and fresh, but still functional.

There is a ton of storage here inside the glass doors. The interior is Wedding White and the exterior is Vista Marine, both from CIL. If you open the drawers, there is a little surprise in there too!

I updated some mismatched pulls for the drawers and doors to give it a whimsical flare.

I am just so pleased with how this turned out! Don't you think that it would work great as a little bar station with a collection of wine or liquor bottles on the shelves along with wine glasses? The drawers are great for corkscrews and napkins and other fun things.

I could also see it as a pretty way to store sewing or craft supplies or even kids games and toys. If you are lucky enough to have a large bathroom, this would be great filled with towels and toiletries too.... So many ideas!

39.75" high (at highest point)
39.75" wide
17" deep

Racy Red Side Table
{sold}

This is just a great little table. I LOVE the dowels used on the lower shelf. It somehow gives it a little more of an airy feel.

This would work so well as a little coffee table in a small space or a side table or night stand too. If you have a little corner by your bathtub, it would look pretty with towels folded on the lower shelf with a tray holding all your bath goodies.

This is just a great way to add a little punch of colour in any room in your house. Very solid piece!

Items are sold on a first come basis and pick up is in Airdrie, AB.

Monday ~ For Sale!

Bold Dresser
{*sold*}

I have been wanting to do a dresser in this colour for a long time! When I scored this one a few weeks ago, I knew I had found my candidate.

It is so solid and a perfect size. It has a few nice little details too...

The legs are very sweet and I really like the inset lower drawers. It is a subtle thing, but adds a special something. The hardware was perfect ~ I just updated it a little bit. The dresser painted up so beautifully, I only distressed the edges very lightly.

I did add some of my favourite glam-y wallpaper to line each drawer. It is available at Lowe's. It is not on their website, but it comes in a tube and it is in-stock in the wallpaper aisle.

It is a very pretty feather motif.

39" high
36" wide
17.75" deep

Super Shabby Oval Coffee Table
{*sold*}

I know that the super shabby look is not for everyone, but I love this look with white. The pretty carving shows through and the legs still look a bit glamorous. The top is a lovely shape and could be the perfect touch in the right space.

It is very sturdy and will be the bit of character you are looking for!

15.25" high
28" wide
48.5" long

If you are interested in either of these pieces, just email me at lisabaron70@gmail.com or text me at 403.700.0877

Pick up is in Airdrie, Alberta.

Thanks for all the feedback ~ I love hearing from you all!

Friday Catch-up

If you follow me on Facebook, you will know that I made a little trip out to the Rosebud Mercantile this week to add a few pieces to the dwindling inventory I have there. I just thought I would share a few photos of what I left behind....

I didn't realize that the light was so bad until I downloaded the pictures when I got home. Naturally, I was in a hurry and attention to detail sort of slips away. I'm sure that this does not happen to anyone else!

This is a fabulous chippy little desk ~ it looks rough, but it is cleaned up and smooth and funky. I love the way the layers of paint show through. This look is not for everyone, but it can look great if you have that hipster/boho look going on. I added some pretty vintage hardware and some wallpaper to the drawers for some glam detail.

I also did up a few small wooden bowls that had lived a hard life previously.

These are a fun little pop of seasonal colour and I love doing them!

I can't believe I didn't take a better picture of this coat rack, because I think it was my favourite thing! You can see glimpses of it in the other pictures, but seriously! I love this so much!

This is a sweet little shabby shelf painted a ballet pink with vintage hardware for hanging jewelry or other pretty things.

There are a few other little tables and wreaths too.

This place is such a treasure. I encourage Albertans to check it out! This summer Anne of Green Gables is playing and will be worth the trip. The Mercantile and other little galleries are open from Wednesday - Thursday 12-8 during the summer. It is a small (teeny, tiny) little town, but the artists installed in the galleries are amazing. Even if you are traveling to Drumheller to see the Royal Tyrrell Museum, this is on your way. We are so fortunate to have this great arts community in a beautiful spot!

Coming up on Monday I will have a couple of fun things for sale. If you love that turquoise-y blue and need a dresser, you might want to check back!
