Mirrored China Cabinet Beauty

{*SOLD*}

This cabinet was a sad 80's leftover. It had some cool features and I loved the style, but the honey oak was so dated and overshadowed all the good stuff happening.

Part of what makes this cabinet so great is that mirror (I love a reflective surface...) but it also makes it tricky to photograph. I tried with the garage door open, and closed:

I painted it Kendall Charcoal which is one of my very favourite grays. It goes with almost everything and looks like a million bucks too. I finished it with a nice hand wax to smooth it out and add protection.

Some distressing highlights these awesome details in the woodwork.

The shelves are glass and do a nice job of floating in the cabinet ~ great for displaying a collection or your good china. There is a handy plate groove along the back of each shelf too and it comes with a sweet little pot light on the top of the cabinet which shines down through the glass. Very pretty!

Check out all the closed storage too!

This is piece is solid oak and is very well made (and heavy!).

It measures:
75 inches tall
44 inches wide
15.25" deep

If you are interested in this cabinet, just send me an email at lisabaron70@gmail.com or a text to 403 700 0877.

Sweet Character Cabinet

{SOLD}

I am in LOVE with this cabinet and the way it turned out!

I found this vintage china cabinet from a local buy and sell site. The seller had bought it from someone else who had started to do a chalk paint makeover and abandoned it part way through. I loved the lines and thought it had potential in a fresh and pretty sea-inspired blue, but liked the idea of the first colour peeking through a little bit.

The glass had been removed so I replaced it with chicken wire and painted the interior of the cabinet a bright, creamy white.

Of course I had to add my decorating antler. Everything looks better with an antler in it. Or a bird.

My lovely friend had recently finished a small wallpapering project at her house and offered her leftovers to me. Isn't this fun in the drawer?

Oversized letters in greys, taupes and black on a creamy background! So gorgeous!

This piece is approximately
70 inches high
32 inches wide
16 inches deep

I painted it in Benjamin Moore AZORES (AF-495) and it is less blue than it shows in the pictures.

Send me an email at lisabaron70@gmail.com or text me at 403 700 0877 if you would like more information or would like to purchase this pretty little guy.

Super Wardrobe!

Beyond Storage
{SOLD}

This super piece needed a little extra loving when it came into my possession which is probably why it has taken me so long to get to it. I am so glad that I took the time to bring this one back to life because I think it looks so adorable now...

Look at all that storage! A total of 5 small drawers and 2 large drawers not to mention the big cabinet area.

The interior shelves are adjustable and can be removed if you would rather throw a rod in there for hanging clothes. There is a spot to insert a 1 inch dowel if you prefer. I love this wall paper and I think it adds a beautiful touch to the back of the cabinet. I also used it to line each drawer.

I used the new Benjamin Moore tintable chalkboard paint in Kendall Charcoal to paint the door to add some fun and extra utility. It works really well and is not as harsh as black would be.

It is lightly distressed with a hand rubbed wax finish. I found 10 matching vintage drawer pulls in white and gold to finish it off.

I can see this in a play room to store dress up clothes and games and art supplies, but I can also imagine it in a girls room to give lots of needed storage. Whatever you do with this Super Wardrobe, it will be a timeless, one of a kind piece.

It measures
61 inches high
17.5 inches deep
36.75 inches wide

If you would like to make this piece part of your home, email me at lisabaron70@gmail.com or text me at 403 700 0877 and we can arrange a time to take a look.

For Sale Now

On The Wild Side Cabinet
{SOLD}

This cabinet has been tough project! It has been sitting in my garage waiting for some loving for a few months. With winter coming, Tim is getting anxious to be able to park in his spot in the garage again so I promised I would finish it before the frost came! I picked it up from a garage where it had been stored for a loooong time. It was dirty and disgusting left me feeling discouraged.

I just wasn't sure how to make it shine ~ to be honest, I briefly thought I would just take it to the dump and forget about it. I talked myself out of that (fast!!) and started to clean it up and get a feeling for what it could become, and then I got a little excited and decided to take a risk....

This cabinet got a complete overhaul and went from being a sad, neglected eyesore to a superstar! I used a bright turquoise latex paint and found this amazing zebra wallpaper at Lowe's to finish it off... I was a little nervous to do something so dramatic, but I know that someone out there will love this piece and find the perfect spot for it to shine. I think it would be great in a bedroom, in a fun livingroom or dining room or in an office as a book shelf. The open shelving with a plate groove makes it perfect for display,  books or any type of funky collection. Lots of closed storage makes it practical too!

I added some whimsical hardware to the doors for a little fun and the matching zebra stripes line the drawer.

Lots of distressing makes it more interesting and showcases all the detail.

It measures
70 inches high
53.25 inches wide
17 inches deep

If this speaks to you, let me know by text 403.700.0877 or email lisabaron70@gmail.com and we will work out a pick up time. It is large, but is in two pieces and will fit into a mini van or SUV with no problem. I can hardly wait to have this beauty installed in its new home!

Rosebud Mercantile

Last week I made a trip back out to the Rosebud Mercantile. I had heard that things were looking a bit bare, so it was time to restock before the last few shows of the summer. I thought I would share a few of the items that I took with me.

I decided to take a bit of a risk with this cabinet. This turquoise is my salute to the last few weeks of summer. It feels so beachy and sunny. As everyone who reads this blog know, I am hooked on the trendy chevron stripe right now. I thought that those sliding doors needed a little extra punch and I am very happy with the result. I really distressed this piece so it feels weathered and has more character. It has tons of storage too! So great for extra dishes, games or even as a little bar....

I have been working on doing some fun things with these old window frames with the glass in good condition. I tried applying a chalkboard surface to them, leaving a little 'frame' of sorts around it so when hung on the wall, a little bit of the wall colour will show through. I really like them and think they are pretty unique although I am sure I am not the first person to do this! I tried it on the square vintage red frame in the 2nd and 3rd pictures as well. What do you think? A bit of a statement maybe....?

In the 3rd picture you can see the cute little twin headboard which would work well on bed (obviously), but also as a way to layer some interesting decor items on a large mantle, in a garden or on a large display area that some houses have in the entry ways.

The headboard is sitting on a funky grey bench which sort of blends in to the background, but it was a great find! I love the legs and the length is perfect for an entryway or even at a standard table.

This is just a great little nightstand. It is pretty and sweet. I thought I would transition to some more earthy colours as we move into fall. This is a lovely plum with black and white wallpaper on the back and lining the drawer.

I am not done with coral yet! This is a two tiered telephone type table that is just cool. I love it with the blue for a very fresh feeling.

I tried adding a little interest to the top BookPage Wreath and ended up with an ombre effect. It is subtle, but makes it interesting.

The second wreath is made of an old atlas book ~ lots of maps and charts. Good for the person who likes to travel (or hopes to!).

The third is more of the standard wreath. I still love the way this looks on a wall. Unusual and very interesting!

I feel so fortunate to be able to have my things here in such a lovely place. The shows are great and the food is good. If you are looking for a place to spend a weekend afternoon, check out the fall schedule and take the drive!

I am working on the finishing touches for my 9 year old daughter's room and I hope to share it soon!

Monday Listing

I am back from a very relaxing, but quick weekend away in Fernie, BC. I love going to the mountains and spending time with my family and friends. It helps to energize the rest of my week!

I have enjoyed the response to the pieces I have listed with bold colour choices. It is such a fun way to introduce a little interest to your space. Definitely NOT cookie cutter decorating! These pieces are more neutral in colour, but I think they are still a way to add a punch of character to your space.

Today I am late as I was having a few problems getting photos to upload but I think I have things straightened out. Fingers crossed!

Not Your Grandma's Curio Cabinet
{*SOLD*}

This is a bit of a change of pace from what I normally do. It was in pretty rough shape and frankly, very ugly and dated. What a difference a shabby makeover makes! I love the white and very distressed edges! The details are so pretty and I like the french country vibe it gives now.

The entire back is mirrored and reflects everything displayed inside. The glass is in excellent shape and the light works so beautifully. I love this for displaying a little collection or just some pretty items.

With the light on or off, it looks so great!

It measures:

70.5 inches high
23.75 inches wide
12 inches deep

Magazine and Book Case
{*SOLD*}

This is an usual piece, but so functional! It is not very deep, but is a great way to display your magazines or books in a way that makes them easy to identify. I think it would work great in kitchen for recipe books too. It is a sturdy little bookcase and has been painted black and very lightly distressed.

It measures:

39.25 inches high
20 inches wide
6 inches deep

Grey Twin Tables
{$90/set}

This is a simple set of side tables. They are a good size and and a nice height too. I like the look of a matching set together to use as a coffee table, but these would work well as side tables flanking a couch or love seat or even as night tables on either side of a bed.

They are painted a creamy grey and the subtle details are highlighted with some light distressing.

 It is not always easy to find a matched set of tables, so I am  selling these together.

Each table measures:

21 inches high
17 inches wide
29 inches long

As always, if you are interested in any of these items, they are available on a first come, first served basis. Please contact me through email at lisabaron70@gmail.com or by text 403.700.0877. I love the feedback and emails from readers who love these second chance pieces as much as I do!
